After being there only a few short hours, we were interrupted by another party that had been booked there the same weekend. We were then upgraded to the Grand Valley Lodge. We originally booked the Double Pines Lodge, but were informed that it was double-booked. But even that doesn't compare to the poor management we witnessed in our booking and while we were there. The laundry list of complaints we had in regards to the housekeeping and state of the cabin upon our arrival took two pages of notebook paper, and honestly could have gone on. It'd be nice if management would spring for new mattresses and a better jacuzzi - the reviews would be better. We were looking forward to using it after long days of hiking we never used it once :-( My daughter couldn't help but compare it to a cabin she stayed in in North Carolina, so she was more disappointed than me. It's clearly not been maintained, and has quite a build-up of deposits from the hard water in the area. The bathroom is fine - good water pressure - but the towels are threadbare and have seen better days. We brought our own twin aero-bed and bedding so the child in our party could sleep in his mom's room. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds adequate, but they both squeak at the slightest movement. We ate all of our meals around the kitchen peninsula, which was convenient for serving. The kitchen has a nice, full-sized fridge. There's no working light over the stove, and limited lighting over the kitchen sink. The kitchen is well equipped, but could use some additional lighting.

There's no TV service, so bring your own DVD's to watch. Not a problem for us but folks should know, in case of physical limitations. There are a number of steps down to the porch, which means you can't back your car right up to the door to unload. With the seclusion, however, be warned that there is no internet or cell phone service. It's secluded and the setting is very pretty. First of all, the cabin is in a great location to get to all of the local attractions.
